Same text, two photos, almost twice as many scans.

An online shop tested two card designs with exactly the same text. In the Netherlands, the design without a person in the photo was scanned almost twice as often. In Germany it was the other way round.

The challenge

A small team that depends on reviews.

For a small team that takes great care over its product, reviews are crucial for winning new customers. But asking by email didn’t bring in enough.

What happened

One text, two designs.

Customers received the same text on two different designs: one with a person on the front and one without.

We’re happy to talk you through the text and both designs on a call.

The results

The design made the difference.

Without a visible person, 12.5% scanned; with a person, 6.4%. The design almost doubled the result. We’re happy to talk you through which version worked best for each country and audience on a call.

The design without a person was then used again, and it confirmed the test result.

What this campaign shows

The insight

The same message lands differently depending on the design, and that can vary by country and audience. Measuring it shows you what works for your audience.
